This time last week I was running around Clapham Common screaming in peoples faces, pretending (poorly) to be a fitness instructor and getting people warmed-up ahead of taking on Rough Runner.
Rough Runner is a fairly new product that is similar to other running/obstacle events, however Rough Runner focuses more on the ‘fun’ aspect. As their events are similar to the setup of TV shows like Total Wipeout, Ninja Warrior & Gladiators, and who DIDN’T want to be on Gladiators?!
My new role with the RR team is that of ‘warm-up MC’; welcoming a new group of 20-100 people every 10 minutes who are taking on the 5K, 10K or 15K courses.
It’s a fairly full-on role, (One which I’m still recovering from!) but as stated before, I LOVE these type of events, as it allows for creative audience interaction. And with the ‘brand’ that RR is demonstrating, it allows for even more interaction and creative licence.
Over 3000 people made their way through the course in London last weekend and saw me making a fool of myself, including Olly Murs, 5 After Midnight, The Radio X Team & Capital Breakfast!
And yes, I did scream in their faces, and destroy any future working opportunities with them in the process.
I'm really excited to be part of the Rough Runner team, joining them for monthly events, can’t wait for the next one! (And to pull my hamstring & lose my voice for a week again).
Bring on 21st-22nd October, in Manchester!
