It was an honour to be asked by British Wheelchair Basketball to host their annual Richard Langhorn Trust Awards, this past weekend at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane.
The #RLT2018 Awards are one of the biggest social events of the year for BWB. The ceremony celebrates those who have gone above & beyond within the sport throughout the past year; from clubs, coaches & officials, to players & volunteers.
For the whole BWB organisation 2017/18 has been an incredible 12 months, with many ground breaking first for the sport. Most notably it’s announced inclusion in the 2020 Commonwealth Games and reaching a worldwide audience via BBC.
Congratulations to all the nominees & winners from the evening, who featured within the various award categories such as, Young Volunteer of the Year & Services to Sport Award.
I also led a Q&A session with GB players Sophie Carrigill & Joy Haizelden; asking them a wide range questions from, What’s your favourite cocktail? To their thoughts on the upcoming Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in Germany.
Overall a fabulous evening recognising the countless hours of dedication by those who continually support & further the sport.
